Photos from “Encounter Latin & Korean: Modern Art in Busan”

Another learning experience working with the amazing Latin & Korean women behind this event. Their level of energy, positivism, love for the arts and down to earth attitude have made it a fun time. Despite the kids being on holiday with the support of my family it worked so well. Instead of feeling tired, I feel energized!

To celebrate the 2015 IDB-IIC Annual Meeting of the Boards of Governors from March 26-29, 2015, in Busan, and welcome roughly 3,000 participants including member nations’ finance ministers, central bank presidents, corporate representatives, financiers and journalists from Latin America & the Caribbean area, a cultural exchange week was held from Mar. 21-30 at the Busan Cinema Center showcasing various Latin cultural programs including this art exhibit featuring a selection of old masters as well as emerging artists among them: Oswaldo Guayasamin, Eduardo Kingman, Luis Molinari and Gaby Berglund Cardenas (Ecuador), Jonidel Mendoza, Alfredo Herrera, Ismael Mundaray, Gaudi Este (Venezuela), Claudio Roncoli, Nora Iniesta, Margarita Tonconoay (Argentina), Antonio Maro (Peru), Roberto Matta, Soledad Lame (Chile), The Merger, CHOCO, Flora Fong (Cuba), Jose Maria Yturralde (Spain).

I feel honored to show my work next to some of the old Masters and I am infinitely grateful to Bellarte for this opportunity.

Will be in Alkmaar, Netherlands! (Mar.20-Ap.19)

When Dutch Curator Jeroen Van Paassen invited me to be part of “Voyage, Voyage: The Artist As Nomad” I was excited about the theme. The piece I contributed with is “No Mind” (installation/book of woodcut and calligraphy) which deals with the struggle during the practice of meditation or mindfulness, philosophy which I became interested and have been studying since I moved to Asia. I thought it was appropriate this show, as explained below:

Invitation

                                                                       Invitation

“Voyage Voyage – the artist as a modern nomad
After the 2nd World War, making travel far become commonplace, even for artists. They travel to the end of the world to be inspired by distant horizons, follow artist-in -residence programs in several countries or emigrate to new home countries. How are all these contacts with other cultures reflected in contemporary art ? Can one speak of multicultural art?”

This was published in “Bracket” art magazine today

While I was in Ecuador, writer Whit Altizer, from Bracket magazine from S. Korea contacted me for an interview. It was really interesting and stimulating working with him and this is the result (please read page 32-33). Feeling thankful to Bracket for their interest in my work and for helping spread the information about it:
